I didn't expect to feel cold so often.

But Ethiopia lies on an elevated plateau between 2 to 3000ms above sea level, so the climate was often cool. It is here that we encountered the Gelada baboons, endemic to the Simyen Mountains. They let us watch them fight or play and groom. From our camp at 3300 ms we explored dramatic scenery that was formed 40 million years ago. Ras Dashen in the Simyen is Africa's 4th highest peak at 4620 m.
