MORE WORK - ETHIOPIA
Just as we were in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia's capital, the IT for Africa World Conference was held. The news spread rapidly about how we promoted the use of email in remote areas, and more and more organisations wanted us to visit their research centres too. And so doing we had an new income that enabled us to live our dream much longer than anticipated. So far, we had only known the basic injera. It's a fermented pancake made from barley and is Ethiopia's staple food. 99% of the population eats it just with spice. In Addis, we discovered the deluxe injera. This one is made from higher quality flour and is served with a choice of 3 curries, called 'wot'. Once you get used to it, it's delicious. Paul never got used to it...
Coffee too, is served in the traditional way. Here it's the china that makes the difference between basic and fancy. It's called the coffee ceremony and even if it takes 1/2 hour for a hand-made espresso, it's well worth the waiting.
